Welcome to Fairlie Furniture Works, dear reader! We are a Scottish furniture maker based near Glasgow, we produce top quality one-off pieces of hardwood furniture to our customer's specifications. We are passionate about what we do, and proud of the furniture we produce. We love wood, and we use the very best kiln dried native hardwoods for the work that we do. Our customers come to us with their ideas, and we sit down to talk through it, helping them arrive at a design which suits their requirements and budget.
Our team of craftsmen then take the beautiful raw materials and, applying all of their skill and knowledge, produce incredible one-off pieces of bespoke hardwood furniture. These will often require special engineering to fit a specific purpose, so they are functional as well as beautiful. We also use the best quality rails, fixings etc.

Designing and Specifying your Bespoke Wooden Furniture
Whether you come to us with a very rough idea, or a pinpoint accurate design which has to be followed to the letter, we have the equipment and personnel to transform your idea into your ideal piece of hardwood furniture.
We have tonnes of photos in the showroom of the work we have already done, plus there are design books and examples of our furniture - in the showroom there's no shortage of inspiration to get your design ideas flowing. Pop in for an informal chat about the furniture you want, and we can work out how best to achieve it.

Unique Hardwood Furniture For Hire
If you only need it for a short period we can rent out our hardwood furniture too. In the past we've done this for magazine photoshoots, TV commercials, and to furnish showhomes.
You may well recognise the image on the right. It has been taken, with kind permission, from the Robinsons 'Be Natural' advertising campaign launched in May 2009. At the end of the advert the wee bird sits down to read his wee birdy magazine and drink his Robinsons juice on a wooden tabletop made by us. We leased it to Rattling Stick for the shoot.
We are based in Ayrshire, near Glasgow, but we are able to organise and transport our wooden furniture to any destination in the UK. Give us a phone for more info about renting hardwood furniture.

Hardwood Engineering & Architectural Work
If you've got a requirement for some weirdo, oddball or incredibly large wooden structure then it would be worth giving us a call. You know, the kind of thing where you don't have a clue where to start looking. We are able to provide architectural or structural grade oak, and indeed we regularly work with architects on domestic and commercial projects.
Examples that fall into this kind of uncategorisable category are: elm spiral staircases; huge oak doors for a castle; a big oak cradle designed to hold a 35 tonne crankshaft; transforming the pews from St. Columbas church into cabinets for their new museum; the Montgomery family's boardroom table; oak signposts; school reception desks.... and the list goes on and on. The photos above illustrate the breadth of work we carry out.
So the moral of the story is that even if it isn't necessarily a piece of hardwood furniture, it may well be worth giving us a call - at the very least we can point you in the direction of someone else who is better placed to provide whatever you're after.

About his FFW oak table, Kevin said;
